George Washington University graduate transfer Arnaldo Toro has committed to St. John’s University, according to sources.
The St. Benedict’s Prep (NJ) product and Hormigueros, Puerto Rico native averaged 6.5 points and seven rebounds per game last season.
A good rebounder, Toro enjoyed a career-high 24 boards and added 20 points against American in a game on November 12. The six-foot-eight forward enjoyed another impressive tilt with a 22-point, 18-rebound double-double performance versus Howard on November 9th.
As a high school senior, Toro helped guide St. Benedict’s to a 35-2 record, the New Jersey State Prep A championship, an appearance in the Dick’s High School Nationals quarterfinals and a No. 12 final ranking in the USA Today Sports Super 25.
Toro, who has a year left of eligibility, will join a Red Storm squad with local talent, including Brooklynite rising sophomores Julian Champagnie (Bishop Loughlin) and Rasheem Dunn (Thomas Jefferson), and rising junior Marcellus Earlington (Stony Point, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep (N.J.).
