Top Girls Basketball Teams in the PSAL

With the PSAL girls’ 2019-20 basketball regular season heading into its stretch run, there are teams, as well as players, that are continuing to shine in its respective conference. 

Here is how they’re doing.

South Shore Lady Vikings

The Lady Vikings, who have won five straight city crowns, are 9-0 in the PSAL’s AA Conference and 15-1 overall.

South Shore is led by senior point guard Kateri Poole, who is averaging 11 points per game in nine league contests, according to ESPN ranks the five-foot-nine Bronx native No. 20 overall and sixth for her position in the nation.

The Lady Vikings will face New Hope (MD) Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Mecca ((Gauchos Gym) in the Bronx. 

Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology Lady Jets 

The Lady Jets are 13-0 and 17-3 overall.

Senior point guard Kiya Marquez tops BHSLT with 15.90 ppg in 10 PSAL Class A tilts.

A trio of solid players — sophomore Brieanna Maple, and juniors Barabra Bruno and Kaila Dawkins — make the Lady Jets a lethal squad.

Maple is averaging 13.87 ppg while juniors Dawkins and Bruno are averaging 13.66 ppg and 13 ppg, respectively.

BHSLT will visit Prospect Heights on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Bedford Academy Panthers 

The Panthers are 10-0 in the PSAL Class B division and 15-0 overall.

Senior Ariella Johnson leads Bedford Academy with 20.86 ppg in seven league games while junior Idriya Prass is averaging 13.60 ppg in five tilts.

Note: results for yesterday’s non-league contest versus South Bronx Preparatory have yet to be posted.  

Bedford Academy will square off versus Achieve First Brooklyn High School today at 6:00 pm. at M.S. 258.
