Villa Walsh’s basketball non-conference game against Veritas Christian was a defensive battle, to say the least. But senior guard Karin Brett provided enough offense to help propel the Vikings to a 25-17 statement win Friday night at home in Morristown.
It was the Vikings sixth consecutive victory, improving their overall record to 8-2 ( 5-1 NJAC) on the season. Moreover, it was a big win for a team that was facing a squad that only lost one contest until meeting Villa Walsh last night.
Additionally, Veritas Christian (14-2) is ranked 1499 nationally and 18th in New Jersey, according to MaxPreps.com.
But the Vikings are No. 5 in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference before last night’s triumph, per NJ.Com.
Brett dropped in a game-best nine points. Kate Gehringer contributed five points while Daniella Jambrina and Maggie Crimmins chipped in with four apiece for the Vikings, which outscored Veritas Christian 11-2 in the fourth quarter.
Villa Walsh returns to action Tuesday, as it hosts Morristown-Beard at 7:00 p.m., while Veritas Christian visits Pequannock (Pompton Plains, NJ) today at 4:00 p.m.
