There’s plenty of New Jersey high school underclassmen that are receiving a good measure of shine going into the 2019-20 season.
With the start of the New Jersey high school boys’ basketball campaign upon us, I’d like to mention one of them: Jaylen Blakes of Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J.
The six-foot-one-inch guard is uncommitted at the moment but has standing offers from Division I colleges the likes of Georgia, Iona, Penn State, Rutgers, and Yale. That’s not a bad list for a kid who seems to have the academics as well the hoops abilities.
Additionally, Blakes’ national rankings are pretty good for a junior, as 247Sports.com has him at the 194th spot, Rivals.com has him listed at the No. 115th slot and PrepHoops.com has him sitting at 160.
Blake scored a team-high 26 points to pace the Bucs to a 70-56 win over Upper Room Christian (NY), in Blairstown. The win keeps Blair Academy undefeated on the young season at 5-0.
