With the college basketball season just getting underway, the University of California, Berkeley Men’s hoops team received a commitment from Jalen Celestine, a senior athletic combo guard from Long Island Lutheran, which the high school announced on Twitter last night.
Celestine picked the Bears over Long Island area college Hofstra, and Tulane, among other schools, according to media sources.
The six-foot-seven, 205-pound New York Jayhawks AAU player is an outstanding shooter, making 44 percent of shots from behind the arc last season at Long Island Luthern, located in Brookville, Long Island.
Additionally, the Canadian averaged 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists with UPlay Canada on Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit this summer.
Celestine joins current high school teammates Zed Key (Ohio State) and Andre Curbelo (Illinois) who are committed to Division I (D-I) college hoops programs.
