The New York Mets have come to terms with second-round selection Josh Wolf, according to Yahoo Sports’ Matt Ehalt, who tweeted it out today.
The Mets were able to ink Wolf to a 2.15MM deal (well above the 53rd overall pick’s spot price of $1,370,400) — which is pending a physical — due to the organization signing mostly seniors in the 2019 MLB Amateur draft.
The 18-year-old ex-St. Thomas High School (Houston, Texas) righty sports good stuff, with a plus curveball, and a mid-nineties fastball.
Additionally, MLB.com ranked Wolf 36th on its prospect list, with Keith Law (46th), Baseball America (54th)and Fangraphs (60th) also showing high value for the former Texas A&M commit.
Ehalt said the deal should be completed next week.
