St. Joe’s Brooklyn’s (15-21=1) Anthony Palermo enjoyed an impressive season with the Division III Men’s baseball team, earning Skyline All-Conference First Team accolades in the process, the league office announced yesterday.
The Patchogue, Long Island, native mashed .339 with three home runs, 33 RBI, 23 runs scored and five stolen bases in 2019. Plus, the six-foot-two Sachem North High School alum finished top 10 in the Skyline Conference in six offensive categories. The senior infielder tied for third in doubles (13), tied for fourth in RBI, tied for fifth in triples (3), was sixth in slugging (.559), tied for seventh in home runs, and tied for 13th in hits (43).
In addition, the right-handed hitter posted 13 multi-hit games, four-straight twice, and put together two separate hit streaks of at least six tilts. Palermo sparkled in the win over SJC Long Island, going two-for-five with two RBI and he also led the Bears over Old Westbury with a three-for-five performance and a solo dinger.
Palermo is the seventh All-Skyline Conference selection in team history and the first since 2017. The All-Conference teams and Player, Pitcher, Rookie, and Coach of the Year Awards are voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches.
