After three years at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, point guard William Lee is transferring to the all-boys, private Blue Ridge School in St. George, Virginia, this coming semester, he announced on Instagram last week.
William, who would’ve been a rising senior at Loughlin, said it was a family decision and is extending his high school career by a year. He went on to thank the people who helped him improve his hardwood hoops skills and pay for Catholic high school.
“After discussing with my family, we felt it would be better for me to transfer out of Loughlin and reclassify into the 2020 class and attend the Blue Ridge School,” Lee wrote on Instagram. “I would like to thank everyone who helped me get to this point, even all the coaching staff at Loughlin that helped me get better, all the trainers that helped me until this point.
“I want to thank my mentor by helping me pay tuition at Loughlin,” he added.
Lee’s mother, Fatima Williams said it was a chance for her son to spread his wings away from their Woodside, Queens, home.
“This was an opportunity for William to experience school away from home,” Williams said.
