On Friday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m., one of my all-time favorite female professional wrestlers, Melina Perez will be appearing at Richmond Country Ballpark at St. George, the home of the Staten Island Yankees, the short-season, Single-A New York-Penn League (NYPL) affiliate of the New York Yankees. The former WWE star will be throwing out the first pitch and signing autographs for fans.
WWE inked Perez, 39, to a contract in 2003. The Los Angles, California, native debuted on SmackDown as the manager of MNM (Mercury, Nitro, Melina), comprised wrestlers Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro, who also wrestled as Johnny Morrison in WWE, and currently as Johnny Impact and Jonny Mundo for Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground, respectively.
Perez, known for ridiculous flexibility, went on to compete in the ring, becoming a decorated wrestler in her time. Perez, who performed with the company until 2011, won three WWE Women’s Championships and two WWE Divas Championships.
In addition, Perez will be appearing at Warriors of Wrestling’s Hit the Lights card on Saturday, August 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Brooklyn, and New York Wrestling Connection’s A Matter Pride Event on Sunday, August 12 at 4:00 p.m. in Deer Park, Long Island.
