The Fireflies (24-21) posted four runs in the in the bottom of the seventh to overtake West Virginia (24-19, Pirates) to claim a 6-5 victory Wednesday afternoon at Spirt Communications Park in a South Atlantic League tilt.
First baseman Jeremy Vasquez lead the charge for Columbia (Mets) with a 1-3 afternoon with two RBI, both in the bottom of the seventh. Third baseman Rigoberto Terrazas knocked a run in with a single into the outfield, while centerfielder Quinn Brodey also drove in a run in the same inning.
Catcher Ali Sanchez singled in a run, as well as left fielder Matt Winaker, both in the bottom of the fourth frame.
Reliever Aaron Ford (2-1) picked up the win with 2.1 innings of one-run ball. Closer Trey Cobb earned his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth, registering two punch outs along the way.
