With the first MiLB week of 2018 in the books, here are how some of the New York Mets minor leaguers are faring.
Columbia Fireflies – Full season, Mid-Level-A South Atlantic League
Fireflies second Blake Tiberi couldn’t have asked for a better start to the ‘18 South Atlantic League (SAL) campaign.
The New York Mets’ third round pick (100th overall) in the 2016 June MLB amateur draft has recorded 12 hits and posted a .480 average in six games. In addition, the 23-year-old former Louisville Cardinal has registered three three-hit contests to go along with a home run, four RBI and five runs scored while reaching base safely in every tilt so far this year.
St. Lucie Mets – Advanced Single-A Florida State League
Right fielder Gene Cone is batting .313 with five hits, a double, and three walks with an OPS of .796 in 16 at-bats in five games.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies – AA Eastern League
After belting a dinger is his first at-bat of the season with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, outfielder Tim Tebow has gone a total of 2-15 in four games.
Las Vegas 51s – AAA Pacific Coast League
Second baseman Gavin Cecchini is hitting .333 (5-15) with five knocks, three doubles, and two bases on balls in six contests so far this year.
Former New York Met (2013) and New York Yankee (2011) pitcher Aaron Laffey has signed on with the independent Somerset Patriots for the ’18 season.
Ex-Met Robert Carson inked a contract for the year with the indie York Revolution last week.
