Canarsie finished with a 3-6 record, just missing the Championship Conference postseason by six points. But that didn’t take away from the solid individual efforts from a few skillful athletes.
Here are some players who shined on the gridiron in 2017:
Johnny Watson
While he battled through a few nagging injuries, senior running back Johnny Watson managed to finish the season with a solid 812 yards in nine games, which was good for fifth place in the conference.
Sameer Akesson
Senior quarterback Sameer Akesson placed seventh in the PSAL with 771 rushing yards in nine contests. He also rushed for seven touchdowns, which was good for a tie for the tenth spot, and passed for 390 yards and four TDs, both twentieth in the conference.
Adisa Isaac
Junior defensive stalwart Adisa Isaac had a stellar year, registering 57 tackles, which helped him tie for sixth place in the conference. Isaac, whom several colleges are heavily vying for his services, recorded eight sacks, landing him the second spot in the PSAL’s highest conference.
