After five weeks of PSAL City Conference football, the skillful players are separating themselves from the rest of the pack as the season progress. Here are the top PSAL statistical leaders in offensive and defensive categories.
Rushing
New Utrecht senior running back Brandon Jones, who’s having himself a stellar season, has amassed 834 yards, ten touchdowns and 66 total points — all tops in the PSAL.
Midwood junior receiver Donate McGriff has corralled 22 receptions, to lead the league.
South Shore senior receiver Marvensky Christophe has ten TD receiving catches to pace the PSAL.
Passing Stats
Junior Tylik Bethea has powered Lincoln’s high-octane offense with 1058 passing yards, 58 completions and 13 passing scores, to sit atop of the PSAL in all three categories.
Midwood senior signal caller Tyshawn Young, who’s guided the Hornets to a 5-0 start, is one completion behind Bethea for the lead.
Defensive Stats
Sacks
Erasmus Hall junior Jonnie Cummings leads the league in sacks with five.
Interceptions
Midwood junior Saleh Robinson and E-Hall senior Christian Izien share the league lead with three pickoffs apiece.
Honorable Mentions
Canarsie senior quarterback Sameer Akesson is tied for the fifth spot in rushing yards with 419, while teammate senior running back Johnny Watson sits in tenth with 358.
Chiefs junior two-way threat Adisa Isaac is in second in sacks with four, tied with three other players.
Senior Flushing running back Aaron Johnson is in second place with 661 rushing yards and nine TDs.
Curtis’ senior signal caller Quincy Barnes holds the second spot in passing yards with 927.
